


Each school year, a school district shall notify the parent of each district student enrolled in 9th grade or above of the availability of programs in the district under which a student may earn college credit, including AP programs, dual-credit programs, joint high school and college credit programs, and IB programs.
This bill converts the acanthosis nigricans screening program already in the Health and Safety Code to the Type 2 Diabetes Education and Risk Assessment Program, effective September 1, 2007. The bill also extends, beginning with the 2007-08 school year, the screening requirement (previously limited to public and private schools in 11 service center regions) to additional service center regions as funding allows.
This bill amends the Education Code to require a school district to permit a home-schooled student to participate in the administration of the PSAT/NMSQT or a college AP exam offered by the district. The student shall pay the same fee to participate in the test that a student enrolled in the district is required to pay.
A school district that does not offer each grade level from kindergarten through grade 12 and whose students generally attend school in another state for the grade levels the district does not offer may start school on any date permitted under the law of the other state.
